Business Travel Tips

Some business travelers may know everything there is to know about planning a successful business trip but they may be lacking in one very important department: Business travel packing.  Yes, there are differences between regular packing and business packing.  There is even a difference between packing for different types of business meetings.  Here is what you need to know on how to successfully pack for business travel:

•    Your appearance will be noted during each outing or meeting that you have.  Therefore, look at your itinerary and determine how many outfits you will need.  In order to spare some room, bring as many shirts as events you will need to attend, while only packing two or three pants or skirts.
•    Shoes are an overall packing nightmare since they take up a lot of room yet they are an important part of your business attire look.  Bring along a pair or two of work shoes, a pair of dressy designer shoes and tennis or walking shoes.  The latter will be comfortable for more casual days on your trip.
•    Bringing your laptop along may not be necessary.  Depending on your position in the company and the purpose of your trip you may be able to get away from the electronic world.  Nevertheless, if you are a presenter, don’t forget to bring along your computer as this will be your most important business asset.
•    Personal hygiene and grooming tools are also a must for your business reunions.  While planning your business travel packing, make sure you bring along all of your toiletries.  Hotels will be able to provide basic toiletries and there should be a shop where you will be able to pick up other items, yet if you have specific preferences, make sure you have them packed.
•    While flying, you should have an emergency grooming kit as well as clothes in the case your luggage becomes misplaced or lost.  Make sure your emergency kit abides by the airports carry on luggage rules.
•    You may not be in the mood for ironing when you get to your hotel room, so make sure that you bring along a spray to reduce the sight of wrinkles, hangers and fabric softener sheets to get rid of any static.
•    Lint brushes may also come in handy to pack as you may want to remove any hairs or lint that may have attached onto your clothes.

Business travel packing can be easy.  If you are visiting various places on one trip make sure that you bring the right attire according to the weather.  If it will be rainy where you are traveling to, pack an umbrella.  If you going to a sunnier destination then you may want to consider bringing along hats and sun block.  Creating a checklist may be the best way to efficiently pack for your next upcoming business trip.
